Sustainable Chromium Encapsulation: Alkali Activation Route

This article highlights recent experimental advances in the use of inorganic substances encapsulation pollutants and, particular, discusses potential applicability and constraints geopolymerization process for treatment wastewater containing chromium. A great percentage waste chromium salts is produced by leather industry during tannery process. Such industrial form liquor almost 40% initial combined with many other pollutants. The stabilization/solidification (S/S) this type must be an economic, environmentally friendly efficient to industrially feasible. Here we present a novel which used as component formulation together clay by-product addition NaOH pellets goal no-water plus no-waste technology approach. final solidified “ceramic-like” material successfully immobilized heavy metal cations well anions macromolecules surfactants, avoiding environmental damages soil groundwater. completed mentioning S/S processes where has been treated resulting sludge encapsulated. future technologies should progress direction significantly reducing amount directed plants, associated reductions transport their CO 2 emissions. intends contribution preventing waste, aligning circular economy management objectives.
